Supermarket accident at work settles for £3,500 compensation

Mrs W was working in a supermarket where she was inspecting a stack of trays which contained stock. Someone had stacked the trays badly and they were unstable. As Mrs W went about her work, the stack suddenly fell onto her, injuring her back.

Mrs W instructed solicitors to pursue her claim, but the supermarket denied liability and she was not impressed with the progress her solicitors made after that. Mrs W therefore approached Advance Legal. We could see that her claim had merit, and could immediately see a number of persuasive arguments which we could put to the supermarket.

We obtained a medical report on Mrs W’s injuries and set about trying to persuade the supermarket to accept responsibility. However, the supermarket dug its heels in, so we had no option but to issue court proceedings against them. Once we had done so, despite denying liability from the outset, the supermarket agreed to pay Mrs W £3,500 in compensation.

At Advance Legal we have lots of experience of dealing with accidents at work and of putting forward detailed legal arguments on liability. Even if the defendant has already denied liability for your accident, we may still be able to help you, so do not hesitate to get in touch with us.
