Our client was injured at work when his employer required him to collect something from a store room, the access to which was via a set of dangerous, steep steps.
There was no handrail and the steps themselves were not fixed to the wall so they moved, and the wooden treads were worn and slippery. As our client made his way down the steps, he fell, seriously injuring his left shoulder. He also sustained some bruising to his hip.
We were able to secure a fairly quick admission of liability from the employer’s insurers, so we moved on to obtain medical evidence about our client’s injury. He was left with some ongoing pain and, ultimately, he will require a shoulder replacement operation far earlier than he would have done if the accident had not occurred.
As a result of us obtaining a supportive medical report, we were able to secure our client compensation totaling £30,500.
On conclusion of the claim our client said: “My solicitor, Mark House, was extremely efficient, keeping in touch regularly and bringing my claim to a satisfactory conclusion. Should I need legal help in the future I would be very happy for Mark to represent me. Highly recommended.”
