We settled a case shortly before trial where a horse fell when its hoof went into a pothole in the road. The horse’s rider, a woman of 47, was injured when she fell to the ground as a result of the horse falling. A claim was brought against the County Council for failing to maintain the highway and they defended, saying that they had inspected the road only three months earlier and had found no defects.
Despite their denial of liability, Advance Legal issued proceedings in the County Court and acted for the rider on a no-win no-fee basis to pursue her compensation claim. After a long battle the County Council eventually caved in and settled the case out of Court, with the client receiving £5,000.
